4 Proposal Ideas Any Girl Would Love

With engagement season just around the corner, we thought we’d share some of our favorite proposal ideas with you. SPOILER ALERT: They all just so happen to coordinate perfectly with your next vacation, too 😉

1.  Private Dinner Proposal
Imagine you and your sweetie enjoying a private candlelit dinner on the beach, with strawberries and champagne at your reach, and the subtle sound of island music in the background. Now picture “will you marry me?” written in the sand and your love down on one knee asking you those 4 words you’ve been dying to hear –now that’s a proposal!

2.  Rock Star Proposal
Take the stage and arrange an appearance at one of your resort’s nightly shows –only this time, you are the show!  Rock her world with that all-important question that she will be sure to “sing” about to all her family and friends when she’s home. Give the crowd something to talk about and celebrate the night away as future Mr. and Mrs.!

3.  Rooftop Proposal
For those of you looking for a simpler and more private affair, a rooftop proposal is the way to go!  After a super romantic evening of wining and dining, let her know just how special she is with a view reserved for just the two of you. Make it extra special by adding low music, candle lighting and a bottle of bubbly. *clink*

4.  Beach Bed Proposal
Enjoy a cozy bali bed proposal as you relax to the sound of soothing waves nearby.  Work with your beach butlers to arrange the perfect “pop the question” moment requested by you, along with the most delectable treats to help seal the deal! We couldn’t recommend a more romantic option.

So whatever your story will be, or however you choose to ask that million-dollar question –this is the moment where warm feelings and heartfelt love collide to create a memory you’ll never forget.

Sound like something you’d both love? Then ask us how we can help you arrange the perfect moment for you at sales@landsvacations.com, or visit us at www.landsvacations.com for more information.

9 Ways to Keep Your Home Secure Before Traveling

Whether you’ll be gone for a weekend, or for an entire week out of the country, it’s important that you make sure your home and belongings are secure before leaving. Here’s some tips to consider so your mind is at rest when you’re gone.

1.    Lock up
This is clearly a no-brainer, but sometimes in the midst of packing, printing tickets, grabbing passports, and dropping pets off to their babysitters –you forget the obvious. Please make sure to double-check that every door is dead bolted and secure before you run out of the house in a frenzy.

2.    Notify your Relatives & Neighbors
Having someone keep tabs on your home for any unusual activity while you’re away is a great idea.  You can have your neighbor get your mail or newspaper so it doesn’t build up in your mailbox or front step.  Lights could be turned on and off in different rooms at various times to give the illusion that someone is home.  Even an extra car parked in the driveway will make someone think twice about being somewhere they don’t belong.

3.    Install a Security System
Though this might not feel necessary (you’re in a “safe” neighborhood, after all), you really just never know. A security system will put your mind at ease knowing the authorities will be notified immediately, should someone decide to break in.

4.    Get a Safe
Any valuables you don’t bring during your travels should be locked up and secured in a safe. Again, if someone were to break in, at least your most important items would be stowed away.

5.    Timer Lights
Lighting in your home, or the lack thereof, is a dead giveaway if your home is occupied or not.  Have timers in a couple different rooms going on and off at random times of the day will certainly make someone who is watching your home question whether you are there or not.

6.    Notify Authorities
If you plan to be away for an extended period of time, it might be a good idea to let your town authorities know about your absence.  In many cases, they’ll check up on your property while you’re gone.

7.    Keep Your Routine
If someone has been “casing the joint,” they know your routines –so don’t change them.  So, if you typically keep your curtains open, don’t close them while you’re away.

8.    Unplug
To save energy and to prevent any power surges that may occur while you’re gone, unplug all appliances.  You don’t want to worry on your vacation that you might come home to find that your old dryer short circuited, or worse –started a fire!

9.    Don’t Announce it to the Whole World
We get it –you worked hard all year to go on your dream vacation. But only close friends and relatives really need to know the exact dates you’ll be gone. Don’t post your travel dates to the hundreds (or thousands) of randoms on Facebook.

Taking some time to prepare your home security is well-worth the effort, in exchange for a relaxed mindset when you’re away. We hope you consider these tips before your next trip!

Don’t have a trip planned just yet? Then let’s fix that! Contact us today at sales@landsvacations.com, or schedule a consult and we can get started.

Do I Need Travel Insurance for Vacation?

Whether you’re traveling overseas, or across the country –it’s crucial to have comprehensive insurance during your travels. Here’s a list we think you should consider before taking off:

Medical Insurance – It is imperative for you to check to see if your current health insurance will cover illness, injury, or hospital stays wherever you’ll be visiting.  Travel insurance covers the cost of treatment for a doctor’s visit or hospital overseas.  If it’s advised that you are too ill to continue with your stay, your insurance will cover the trip ride home.  There are many levels of coverage, from your basic needs, to full comprehensive coverage with additional accommodations, travel expenses, companion expenses, etc.  Check with your local insurer to find what type of policy best fits your requirements.

Emergency Evacuation Insurance – This insurance would be used if you needed to be airlifted to a local hospital or depending on the level and stipulations of the coverage purchased, take you back home for medical treatment in your own country.

Travel Protection Insurance – This is protection from last-minute cancellations for flights and any other reservations made in advance.  If you are the type of traveler that likes to book your plans early, this would be very important to consider.  Things happen, whether they be good or bad, so it’s comforting to know that if you need to cancel at the last minute, you will be reimbursed for the money you’ve paid.

Baggage Protection – Save yourself some money and do the legwork on this one.  Airlines are liable up to a certain amount for loss or damage.  If your flight was bought on credit, the credit card company may also cover lost items.  This is different depending on your specific credit card company, so be sure to ask.  Also, remember to check your homeowner’s coverage, as this may also come into play if an incident like this occurs.

Make it a priority when planning your dream vacation to investigate different insurance options
--just in case you need it.  Your trip will be even more enjoyable knowing that you can relax in confidence!

10 Reasons Why Hawaii Should be #1 on Your Bucket List

We all dream about Hawaii. Here's 10 reasons why we're convinced you should make it happen.

Waimea Canyon
Known as the Grand Canyon of the Pacific located on the western side of Kauai, “Waimea” is Hawaiian for reddish water that comes from the erosion from the red rocks.  This is a “don’t miss” on your list of places to see in Kauai, with exquisite rainbows and breathtaking waterfalls on a lush backdrop of reds, browns, and greens.

Na Pali Coast
The most scenic coast found on the Kauai shoreline, this spectacular view can be seen via boat, or a rugged 11-mile hike –if you're up to the challenge!  Na Pali’s hidden coastline features cliffs that drop straight down into the ocean.  Due to its remote location, it's considered one of the most beautiful coastlines in the word.

Kaanapali Beach
This pristine, white sand beach on the west side of Maui is incredible. If your budget allows, we highly recommend staying at one of the luxury resorts lining the coast, with boasting views and easy-access to one of the most alluring beaches in the world.

Whale watching
The coast of Maui is known to be the best spot in the world for the viewing of the Humpback whale.  With the calm, clear water, it is the most spectacular sight to see in the shallow waters of Maui.

Pearl Harbor
The USS Arizona is a powerful reminder of the final resting place of the crew that perished on 12/7/1941.  This is a memorial to all armed forces who lost their lives in the Pearl Harbor attack, so if you appreciate American history, we highly recommend checking it out.

Surf's Up!
Hawaii is known to be the birth place of surfing.  All of the Hawaiian Islands are “surf ready,” but these are the beaches we recommend: Waikiki Beach, Lahaina-Kihei in Maui, Poipu-Hanalei in Kauai and Kahaluu Beach Park- Hawaii Island.

The Road to Hana
Drive the Maui eastern coastline for 50 miles through the mountains and cliffs, with over 60 bridges where the road narrows and zigzags to the top.  On your way up, you will find hiking trails, sparkling waterfalls, a red sand beach, and a spectacular bamboo forest!  This road trip is not for the faint of heart, but is definitely worth the drive!

Waikiki Strip
You will find one-of-a-kind boutiques and shops, weekly activities, and live performances on this notable strip.  Stop in for lunch at one of the many award-winning restaurants, or mingle with the locals who call this place home.

Punalu’u Beach
Known as the most famous black sand beach in Hawaii, Punalu'u Beach is the largest, and most-known for spotting the green turtle on this Big Island. The turtles are often seen sunbathing on the hot black sand—it's quite a sight to see, so bring your cameras!

Hawiian Luau
You can’t visit Hawaii without experiencing a traditional luau and show!  Excited to try some traditional Hawaiian fare? Poi, lomi lomi, island fish with macadamia nuts—and of course, the traditional kalua pig! This is sure to be a feast fit for a king!

Remember, don’t try to do it all.  Visit 2-3 islands, as it is nearly impossible to see everything in one stay. Sound exciting? Then contact sales@landsvacations.com to speak with our Hawaiian travel experts now!

3 Reasons Why Renaissance Island is #FLAMAZING

Renaissance Island is home of the beautiful pink flamingo and Aruba’s most private beaches. A 40-acre tropical paradise, sure to delight even the most persnickety of travelers.

2.       Beach Tennis.  Tennis anyone?  Beach tennis is one of the fastest growing sports in the world, and Aruba was the first Caribbean Island to embrace it!  It’s played like regular tennis, except it’s played on a regulation beach volleyball court.  Beach tennis can be played both competitively and recreationally and because of this, it attracts athletes and non-athletes alike.  Aruba’s International BeachTennis Tournament is Sunday, November 11 through November 18, 2108.  Come out and enjoy the show!

3.       Privacy and Beauty.  Thatched shelters are available to rent that are stocked with champagne.  Sip to your heart’s desire, or lay back with leisure on a suspended lounger over the crystal-blue landscape.  Snorkeling gear is yours to enjoy in the refreshing, cool waters.  Staff members are available for taking food orders to enjoy a meal in your most-private paradise.
