The most enchanting running events on earth take
place in Walt Disney World, Disneyland Paris –and even virtually. Here are 5 races
you’ve got to check out today!
Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend
As the very first Disney Marathon ever, competitors from
around the world gather for this race every January. The weekend-long events
consist of a 5k on Thursday, a 10k on Friday, and a half marathon kids race Saturday
and full marathon on Sunday. This is the biggest race held and has a variety of
themed challenges, like the Goofy and Dopey events, kid’s dashes –and even a diaper
dash for the crawlers in your group! You also get a nice medal for every race
or challenge you complete!
Disney Princess Half Marathon Weekend
This February half marathon made its debut back in 2009 and
is very popular for the girls and gentlemen! Participants have a lot of
fun with this event because they dress up as princes and princesses and really
get into character. The Disney Princess Half Marathon consists of a 5k, 10k, a
half marathon, a challenge –the options are endless!
Star Wars Rival Run Weekend
Originally called “The Dark Side,” the Star Wars Half
Marathon is filled with fun and adventure for jedi fans across the globe. In
fact, you can participate in this event anywhere in the world, as it has a
corresponding virtual race as a placeholder for its Disneyland counterpart (who
has suspended their races for the time being), where you can still go for the
Kessel Run Challenge Medal. And now with Galaxy’s Edge, fans are speculating
races through the new attraction in the future –we’ll see!
Wine and Dine
Now a popular 5k and 10k morning event, Disney Wine and
Dine has become loved my millions of foodies around the world. This past year,
it was hosted during Halloween-time, making it a great race to participate in,
should you wish to attend Mickey’s not-so-scary Halloween Party and the Food
and Wine Festival. Come join in on the fun for some fantastic themed foods, costumes,
and some friendly competition!
Disneyland Paris
In 2016, Disneyland Paris introduced a new medal you can
receive after completing the event’s two races within a year –The Castle to
Chateau Medal. The races take place in September, taking you through Disneyland
Paris and Walt Disney Studios Parks. It’s also located close to city’s train
station, making traveling to Paris fairly doable!
